Why So Serious?

Abortion. Some see it as getting rid of a problem, and others see it as brutal murder. It's a touchy topic for most.
But the question is, should woman have the choice to get an abortion? OR should they be forced to either take care of the kid/put it up for adoption?
Is it morally right to kill a potential human? Is it a human when it is less than a couple months old?

I just finished writing a research paper on this topic, however, I left it at school. Crap.
However, I'll offer what I can.
Personally, I think all abortion is wrong, but I think to be fair, Abortion should be restricted to rape and health problems.
Why?
1% of abortions are preformed because of rape. 6% of abortions are preformed because of health complications.
And the other 93%? Inconvenience, not wanted, and other social reasons.
Yea. The abortion rate would go down 93% if a law was made which only allowed it for certain circumstances.

Quite honestly, outside of rape/heath reasons, there is no good reason to get an abortion.
And furthermore, yes, rape is a horrible thing, and the victim shouldn't have to pay for the consequences, but should the baby have to pay for the consequences?

What about adoption?

However, put yourself in the position of the baby. Do you deserve to die because some bastard raped your mother?

Its not fair no matter how you do it. Either you take a babies life, or you take a girl's dignity.

I'd say people under 16 have the right to get abortion [chances of life on either end, low!], otherwise, we would end up with 2 dead people instead of one.
Also, is the embryo developed, no. Can it feel pain, no. Do I agree for the right if you are 30, no.
So illegal if you are younger than 16.

I have brought out my notes from my research paper. The heart of a fetus begins to form 18 days after conception, and the brain begins to form on day 23. Most abortions do not occur until 4-6 weeks after the fetus begins to form. Therefore, most abortions kill not only a beating heart, but a functioning brain. The brain controls the nervous system might I remind you. And furthermore, studies have shown that fetus's "move away" from the poison injected into a womb during an early abortion.

Ok fine. We'll think about life outside of the womb. Why don't we kill some criminals and then spend the money it costs to keep them in prisons on some babies instead of abortions?

I'm not necessarily saying that. I'm more saying that it should be banned unless rape or health issues is involved. The 7%.

Say you're an extreme liberal or an extreme conservative. You're probably always going to vote for your party's candidate, right? But you'd be pissed if that option of choice was taken away, you know, just in case maybe that one douche-bag slipped through and was up for election.
It's the same kind of principle, it's better to HAVE the choice and not use it, than to have no other option. Your morals may disagree with abortion, but that doesn't mean that it should stop someone else whose morals may say it's ok.
That's my thoughts (summed up).

Agreed 100%. I've never heard anyone phrase it that way... but you're right. Abortion shouldn't be banned. I mean, if it's banned that means more women are going to resort to "coat hanger" and back alley abortions. Don't know what those are? Google it, it's scary and sad and disgusting but thats what happens when you take a womans rights away from her. Yeah, I had a friend that did that to herself, before I knew her. I guess her boyfriend wanted it, but she didn't, so she got some of her guy-friends to punch her in the stomach, and she drank a lot of alcohol and used all those other tricks to get rid of it.
