Circa 1980, an arcade game called Defender was released.
My dad and I restored one for a friend about 6 months ago, and he has yet to pick it up - he just comes over and plays it (we turned the garage into a defender room).
The game is the original alien-killer. You have a space ship and some bombs. There is some land with humans on it. But there are also hundreds of aliens trying to take the humans so they can mutate.
You may think that a game this retro could never match Halo or COD. But surprisingly, I find it harder than Halo. It might be the best game I've ever played.
