The Pineapple Express is a very entertaining movie! It sure is a great way to kick off the beginning of the end of the summer.
The movie is based on Seth Rogen and James Franco's characters. Seth is Dale Denton and James Franco is Saul Silver. Dale is a pot smoker and Saul is the pot seller/smoker. Now Dale witnesses a murder and the only place he has to go is Sauls!
I must say James Franco fits in PERFECTLY with Judd Apatows actors. I hope to see him in more movies with Seth Rogen and the rest of the bunch. This movie really works. A friend of mine said that the only way to really compare this to any other movie would be Hot Fuzz. While they both are pretty much opposites they are also the same at the same time. The movie has paced comedy. Not one liners every few mins but a few jokes here and there building up towards the end were you will see a huge shootout with tons of action and tons of laughter.
So in simple terms..this IS Hot Fuzz if you replace the cops with pot smokers lol.
Seth delivers a great role but its very similar to almost all of his past roles while James STEALS the show. Never in my life would I have pictured the green goblins son as a funny as hell pot smoker!!
This movie works if your into comedies mixed with some weed. But if thats not your thing then this wouldn't work to well for you. I for one enjoyed this movie alot.
I give The Pineapple Express a 8/10
James character was great! But like you said, you have to have a good sense of humor to enjoy this movie since its pretty much all about weed.
