Title: X-Files: I Want To Believe
Rating: PG-13
Release Date: July 25th, 2008
Genre: Sci Fi, Thriller
The long awaited X-Files sequel has finally came out! Well let me dive right into it. I am a fan of the X-Files series. I am not a die hard fan but I did enjoy there TV shows and I did enjoy the first movie. So I was pretty excited when this movie was announced and after the first trailer I got goosebumps hearing the signature music blaring over my speakers!
X-Files 2(I don't want to spell out the title EVERY time) kicks off sometime after the show and last movie. Molder and Scully are both living there own lives. They left the FBI. Scully is a doctor and Molder is just living his life. The main problem is a woman has gone missing and the FBI along with a psychic( he has visions of stuff) are looking for her. They find missing limbs so they think there could be something else to this crime. They call in Molder and Scully.
Now this movie isn't half bad. It works in certain areas and it falls terribly in others. I cant really explain what I mean unless spoiling the crap out of it.. so SPOILERS BELOW READ AT YOUR OWN RISK..
Scully and Molder both aren't to happy with helping... but they do it anyways. They find some evidence and they keep the case going. Scully doesn't believe much of anything.. so she kinda fades away as Molder really keeps the case going. The thing that just gets me pissed about the movie is that it doesn't show ANY sign of this being X-Files besides the 2 characters. If Molder and Scully weren't in this it would just be another crime, thriller movie. Which is why I don't think highly upon this movie. Its a simple crime movie with a semi weird background and its pretty predictable. If they wouldn't have called this X-Files it could do pretty decent on its own but since they called it X-Files everyone is expecting X-Files... which means some sort of weird paranormal activity.. which this movie LACKS OF. Nothing weird of any sort is in this.. just some messed up killers taking poeple..and the FBI tracking them down. THATS IT....
END SPOILERS
Plus Molder and Scully going back and forth at each other because they don't want to be helping out..and they want to be living there own lifes...
This movie is a pretty big letdown for any X-Files fans but it still can be enjoyable to an extent. With all the other great movies out there DON'T put this on your list of MUST SEE movies.
I give X-Files: I Want To Believe a 7/10 on the Jer Scale. Which means AVERAGE at best.
I really wanted to believe in this movie... but I couldnt
