Macaroni and Cheese


The mac and cheese
Fresh out of the oven
Strikes my nose
The breadcrumbs on top
Look as delicious as the bread
They were made from
My mom spoons out equal portions
To my dad and I
The yellow cheese
The crust from the oven
Improve the dish two times
No three!
I stick my fork
Into the golden mass
As the food hits my tongue
I remember the first time I ate it
When I was young
When I was new
The breadcrumbs
Toasted from the oven
Fill me with warmth
The cheese melts slowly
In my mouth
The macaroni
Crunchy in some places
Squishy in others
As I finish my plate
Two words come to mind
More please!
